Ask Massachusetts General Hospital to Replace Its Cruel and Outdated Sheep Lab

Please fill in your information below and then click “Submit” to help end the use of live sheep in trauma training courses at Mass General. We will affix only your name, city, and state to the petition—along with the names of thousands of other concerned citizens—and our physicians will present this to Peter Slavin, M.D., the president of the hospital.

Full petition text:

To: Peter Slavin, M.D.

Message: As a concerned citizen, I am writing to ask that Massachusetts General Hospital immediately replace the use of live sheep with validated nonanimal training methods in its Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses. As a leader in health care, Mass General owes its patients and physicians the highest level of medical training. Unfortunately, that level is not currently being reached in the hospital’s ATLS courses. More than 95 percent of your peers exclusively use human-based medical simulators instead of live animals to teach ATLS surgical skills. Please join them.
