PETITION TO: George F. Koob, Ph.D.
Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism
As a committed PCRM donor, I urge you to stop NIAAA funding of experiments that force animals to ingest toxic amounts of alcohol, and endure pain, suffering, and certain death. Alcohol experiments on animals at Texas A&M, Loyola University, and more than 150 other university laboratories are not only cruel, but deplete funds that should be directed to the hard work that really needs to be done to stop fetal alcohol syndrome, and other alcohol-related health problems. As Director, I urge you to focus NIAAA’s research budget on human-based studies and serious educational and intervention programs.
